January is making itself known with cold nighttime temperatures. Remember to open cupboard doors allowing heat to keep your pipes from freezing. A drip drip of your faucet water could make the difference between being able to have running water or having frozen pipes. I have heard of people taking a lamp, removing the lamp shade, and allowing the heat from the light bulb to help keep pipes from freezing. A plumber cannot do anything to help with frozen pipes until the temperature warms up. At that point a pipe that has been frozen is likely to break and water flows rapidly whether inside the home or outside depending on where the pipe breaks.
A few steps of prevention go a long way toward keeping your water flowing properly when it comes to frozen pipes.
