Now that the full force of the summer heat is upon us, I am reminded of the time I tried to protect my geraniums against 100 degree weather. It seemed like the right thing to do to take my geranium pots out of the sunny part of the patio and bring them under the roofed section so they could enjoy the shade. The geraniums appeared healthy for a while but began to loose their brilliant red color. Upon reading about the care of geraniums, I found out that my act of protection also denied the geraniums the sun rays they needed to be brilliant in color.
This truth applies to us as human beings. Protection is good to a point but it can deny us the opportunity to thrive and show off our most brilliant color.
